With such a small canvas, I was sure that I would not have the patience to paint a realistic motif. It should be abstract, it should have structure. So I just took tissue paper, some acrylic paint that I had left over from the previous painting, and started by creating a structure on top of it. After that it took a few weeks until I recognized a boat and then I painted a gradient of blue tones with oil paint; it should also be monochrome. The boat had to be worked out in its abstract form by shading and finally a star in the sky had to be indicated. That’s all. I am excited to see what other motifs will look like in this series.
