First – what is Usedom? Usedom is an island in the northeast of Germany, where I live and like to be inspired by the sea. I have started a new series of paintings, again seascapes that are expressive and designed with different media. In this first painting, I held myself back and only brought the clouds structured on the canvas. For that I used a light structure paste and shaped the clouds with palette knifes and a small spoon. I used real sand and a gloss gel for the beach. The gloss gel dries transparently, and the effect looks better than expected. Doreen.
